Overview
This course will provide you with the key skills, knowledge and competences to work in a supervisory capacity in a range of industries. You will develop your understanding of the purpose of supervision, the responsibilities of the supervisor and how best to carry out those responsibilities.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you will have a thorough understanding of the role and responsibilities of the supervisor. You will have developed your knowledge and skills in operational aspects of the role such as record and data management, operating procedures, rosters, delegation, risk, insurance and budgeting. You will also develop skills in the people aspect of the role with competence in recruitment, selection, induction, training and performance management.
Through engagement with this course you will broaden your insight into the environment in which you work, or hope to work, and the influences of the wider external environment.
Assessment
You will be required to complete a Project worth 60% and a Collection of Work worth 40%.
Award
On successful completion you achieve a minor QQI award 6N4329 Supervisory Management. This award is worth 15 credits and can be used towards a major award at level 6 (Management, Leisure Facility Supervisory Management, Health Services Supervisory Management Skills, Administration).
Education Requirements
You should have achieved a Leaving Certificate or minimum of a QQI Level 4/5 QQI Award or its equivalent. Strong numerical and literacy skills are essential and you will need to be competent in word processing and in using the internet for research aspects of the course.
You will also need good command of the English language.

𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 Applicants should have achieved a Leaving Certificate or minimum of a QQI Level 4/5 QQI Award or its equivalent. Strong numerical and literacy skills are essential. IT Software Application skills to QQI Level 4/5 or equivalent are essential.
𝗔𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written are important, as is a good command of the English language, as work requires dealing directly with the general public.
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Previous relevant industrial/commercial experience is desirable.
