Course:KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS/IMPROVERS - TUESDAY

Knitting is an enjoyable and relaxing hobby in which balls of yarn can be transformed into beautiful novelty knits and garments.
Beginners and improvers are welcome to join this ‘hands on course’, where individuals will learn the basic skills for knitting as well as receive one to one support to complete challenging projects already started.
Week 1-5: Individuals will learn how to cast on, do the knit and purl stitches and cast/bind
off. These techniques will provide individuals with a basic foundation for
all future knitting projects
Week 6: Individuals will learn how to follow a knitting pattern.
Week7: Individuals will learn the importance of Tension / Gauge in a knitting project.
Week 8: Individuals will create knitted swatches which will provide them with opportunities
to practice various stitches. E.g., Moss/seed stitch, Diamond stitch, Basketweave.
Week9-10 Individuals will be able to choose their own knitting project and work on it in
the classroom with the support of the tutor.
Projects: Hat and scarf, tea cosy, place mats and individual projects.
Materials A pair of 4mm needles
1x 100gram ball of Tivoli DK wool.
As individuals build up their knitting skills, they will be required to purchase other
pieces of equipment.
